Green Design at Gruffy Ground
PRO Structures was delighted to carry out the structural design for this large 215 m2, 4-bedroom new single storey dwelling with a framed terrace as well as a liveable loft space, for Gibson Architecture.
The design made use of sustainable Durisol ICF blocks for the external walls and blockwork masonry walls for the internal walls, beam and block ground floor. The use of ICF blockwork aided the construction schedule, as well as providing extra airtightness and sound-proofing qualities, reducing the energy consumption of the building.
We were also asked to design a lightweight galvanised steel external walkway and roof overhang support framework, to enable the architect’s vision for a sheltered patio space.
Also of interest in this scheme were the specialist-designed attic trusses and terrace framing, constructed using steel support beams and columns, enabling the covered patio and housing a spacious attic living area.
