WORKING WITH ARCHITECTS
“We have had the pleasure of working with PRO Structures on recent projects where they have brought their proactive and commercially minded approach to assist the design process. We have enjoyed working with Ron and his team who have always been willing to consider and suggest pragmatic solutions that are most applicable to the scale and budgets of the projects in question. This has been of particular use on our refurbishment schemes which have utilised their flexible approach to great effect.”
– Peter Wood, Director, Angus Meek Architects
Based in Bristol, PRO Structures is proud of its ongoing relationship with numerous south-west based architects, most of which are small to medium-sized businesses. Projects which have come to us via architect’s referrals make up around 40% of our workload in an average year, 80% of which is repeat business, and we believe this speaks volumes about the partnership approach we take.
We appreciate the creative thinking which lies behind architectural concept design for a scheme, and will always do our utmost to make a design work structurally – as opposed to a more traditional structural engineering approach which might try to limit aspects of the architectural vision in the quest for a solid design.
We take particular pride in our record for problem-solving, and for working with our clients to find the best solution for everybody when an issue or dilemma arises, taking into account the concept and vision as well as the essential practical aspects such as cost and timeframe. Some of our most challenging and interesting projects with architects have been those involving a change of use, for example converting an empty office block or disused barn into housing to avoid the need, and cost, to start from scratch on an undeveloped site.
Projects where we have worked closely with south-west based architectural clients in order to satisfy a challenging brief include:
- 213 A Bath Road infill apartments, Cheltenham (dz architecture)
- Shipley Road, Bristol (Clear Future Architects)
- Weir House, St Anne’s, Bristol (Prelon Developments and Angus Meek Architects)
- Coniston Community Centre (Dominic Taylor Architecture and Design Ltd)
