Location: Bristol
Project value: £125,000
Scope: To introduce a new steel framed mezzanine floor for goods storage into a Grade II listed Bath Stone faced building.
Services provided: Design and build liaison with BOI Metal Fabrications Limited. Structural design of mezzanine floor and its connections. Justification of the existing structure for additional loads.
Taste Limited agreed to rent an area of St Nicholas Market from the local Council, to turn it into a restaurant with a proposed new first floor storage level. PRO Structures worked closely with BOI Metal Fabrications Limited to design and build the new steel deck mezzanine storage floor structure and staircase. The mezzanine had a total floor area of approximately 670 ft2, and a wall supported by a series of prefabricated steel support shoes onto the existing building’s masonry piers.
The mezzanine floor’s design and appearance had to be in keeping with the building, featuring a historic light industrial look; and our structural solutions to this end were much appreciated by BOI.
PRO Structures also liaised with the Council’s listed building architect and building control department for sign off purposes of this structure.
