Sustainable design in Westbury-on-Trym
PRO Structures worked in partnership with both Clear Future Architects, and specialist CLT suppliers KLH UK to design a highly sustainable home for our client, the owner of this private dwelling in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol.
Designed from small timber sections which are formed into large structural panels that are light, stable and very strong, CLT offers great speed in construction. It is also a byword for little waste, embodied carbon (achieving a carbon-neutral rating), and the fact that they are light in weight means smaller, cheaper foundations too.
Our role incorporated reviews of KLH UK’s proposed superstructure design proposals, for coordination with our substructure and basement plant room designs. We helped to alleviate specialist designer coordination issues on this project, taking a partnership approach to ensure that all the design elements worked in tandem for the best outcome for the client.
Projected completion: December 2015
PRO Structures’ work involved:
- Sub-structure design
- Superstructure design
- Liaison with both architect and CLT supplier
