Norman Scott Pavilion – Patchway, Bristol

We were asked to provide the civil and structural engineering designs for this project.

We designed the new loadbearing masonry building utilising timber trusses with a degree of steel framing via steel roof/wall support beams.

We also undertook the new foul and surface water drainage strategy design utilising large underground rainwater attenuation storage tanks that were located just outside of the building’s footprint under the cricket field elevations external walkway.

The building was designed by the architectural firm The Bush Consultancy and constructed by Melhuish & Saunders Ltd., in collaboration with project manager Melrose Associates. Named in honour of Norman Scott, the first Chairman of Patchway Parish Council, the facility offers modern changing rooms, light dining and social areas, as well as a viewing terrace for local sports teams and is designed in accordance with Sport England standards.
