The steelwork fabricator for our client, West Somerset Railway, contacted us as they were concerned with the condition of the roof’s structural support purlins, due to sustained steam from the engines. Several of these roof purlins required replacement and others had actually collapsed.
PRO Structures undertook new hot rolled steel roof purlin designs to support the existing cladding with sketch connection details plus new steelwork protection measure specification recommendations.
