Best-value design for 51 new homes with associated garages
This new development comprises 51 new housing units, including detached and terraced houses, and 2, 3 and 4 storey buildings and their associated garages. Built with a traditional load-bearing masonry construction, the apartment blocks use pre-cast concrete floors, while the houses above ground floor level use timber TJI flooring. The ground floors throughout use suspended beam and block floors.
In addition to providing sub- and superstructure design, PRO Structures solved a problem for the client, in terms of supervising additional geotechnical testing, which proved that piling would not be needed for the foundations of several properties. We believe this probably saved the client in the region of £50,000.
PRO Structures’ work involved:
- Substructure design
- Superstructure design
- Supervision of geotechnical testing to negate the need for proposed piling
