Open-plan, glazed extension in Bristol
This steel-framed extension in Bristol, designed to craft a bright and airy kitchen/dining area leading out to the garden, posed PRO Structures, as the structural designers, some interesting challenges. These were primarily caused by the flat roof projection past the building line, and the considerable extent of the glazed elevations.
We came up with a steel support framework solution which was both sympathetic to the architectural design and complemented the architect’s brief, creating a feeling of bringing the outside in while increasing the building’s footprint by almost 700 sq ft.
